If you enroll in a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) and you are eligible for advance payments of the Premium Tax Credit (APTC) you can choose to use the full amount to reduce your monthly premium OR take less by using the scale in the disclaimer below. The sliding scale appears in the disclaimer below.
You Should Know:
Those who take less Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTC) may be eligible to receive the remaining tax credit as a refund based on the actual Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) reported on their federal income tax return. If your actual income could be higher than what you listed in your application, you can select to receive a smaller Advance Premium Tax Credit amount. To select a smaller Advance Premium Tax Credit amount, move the slider to the left (see example below).
The IRS ultimately decides who receives repayment of tax credits and how much they receive. Access Health CT cannot guarantee payment of any remaining Advance Premium Tax Credit when you file your federal tax return. For additional information about the tax provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), visit the ACA tax provisions page.
Note: The following disclaimer addresses the Advance Premium Tax Credit and includes information from a sample enrollment. This is for illustration only – final dollar amounts depend on the information you provide in your application.
